Permanent Visa for Family Reunion

The Visa for family reunion purposes is possible as long as the foreigner has dependents residing in Brazil. Whether they are: ascendants, descendants, or spouse/partner. For the granting of the visa process, it is necessary to prove the dependence and proceed with the application to the Federal Police.

Visa by Retirement Transfer

Temporary visas are granted to retired foreigners or beneficiaries of pensions due to death, as long as they can prove their ability to transfer to Brazil the amount, in foreign currency, of US$ 2,000.00 (two thousand dollars) each month.

If the retirement/pension due to death is lower than the mentioned amount, the granting of this visa is possible, provided that other regular sources of income are proven to complement the required amount.

Residence Visa for Foreign Investor

This type of visa is granted to foreigners who come to Brazil in order to establish residence for a specified period and intend to invest in excess of R$500,000.00 in a Brazilian company, upon presentation of an investment plan.

It is possible, exceptionally, to authorize the granting of a permanent visa to the investor when the application is less than BRL 500,000.00 and above BRL 150,000.00, in cases where there is the purpose of investing in innovation activity, basic or applied research, of a scientific or technological nature.

There is also a residence permit visa for a foreign administrator, manager, director or executive with management powers, to represent a legal entity that makes a foreign investment in a company established in the country, with the potential to generate employment or income. As long as you prove:

  • Foreign investment equal to or more than R$ 600,000.00 or;
  • Foreign investment equal to or more than R$ 150,000.00, plus the creation of 10 new jobs, at least, during the two years following the entry of the foreign director.

Permanent Visa for Real Estate Investment in Brazil

The real estate investment visa is subject to the acquisition of real estate in Brazil, located in an urban area, in an amount equal to or more than R$ 1,000,000.00 (one million reais). Acquisitions may be real estate built or under construction.

When dealing with property located in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, this investment may be lower by up to 30%. Totaling R$ 700,000.00.
